Luck?

Re-blogged from Wordsmith’s Desk

Luck is a very familiar word to all and used in many forms. We wish someone “good luck” as much as say “hello.” We hear the phrase, we use the phrase and “Good luck” becomes a conditioned response.

Faith, too, is a familiar word. it is used by many to express a belief in someone, “I have faith in you” or “Have a little faith” are two examples of its use. We express a faith in God. We can express a faith in each other.

 Luck is crossing your fingers.

Faith is expecting.

Luck wishes.

Faith believes.

It sounds lame when a Christian wishes someone “Good luck!”

“I have faith in you” would be better.

His post this morning lit a fire under my tail! Here was my response.

I couldn’t agree more. Speaking luck just seems to be normal growing up…used too loosely. If you know who you are in Christ the there should be no luck..You know that you now. Ya know? ;-)

The definition of luck –
1. the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person’s life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities: “With my luck I’ll probably get pneumonia.”

-NEVER speak sickness into you life…

2.good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance: “He had no luck finding work.”

-Speak uplifting words…This is speaking bad things into existence.

3.a combination of circumstances, events, etc., operating by chance to bring good or ill to a person: “She’s had nothing but bad luck all year.”

-If you don’t know that people are speaking these things about you then you must live under a rock. Pray that everything that is bad be cast away from you…not receiving any curses into your life.

4.some object on which good fortune is supposed to depend: “This rabbit’s foot is my luck.”

-NEVER EVER EVER have any other Gods….ever. Hook your faith up to THE faith and ALL things are possible.

WOW Butch…your post really lit a fire under my bum this morning. -lol- I have never liked the word “luck” because my Father doesn’t get credit. He deserves all the glory and honor. I have began teaching my kiddos to use other words like “blessed.” My little boy finds money in the floor and says, “Wow, a quarter, I’m blessed!”

When some people think of luck, they are meaning something to do with randomness, probabilities, accidents, chance. But, to say tha the universe is operated based on chance is to say there is no God.

But, When we promote the concept of luck we really are yoking ourselves with the pagan occult concept of Karma.

Why can’t we say something encouraging that does not compromise the truth? Read these examples from scripture.

Numbers 6:23Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,

24The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

25The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace
Romans 16:24The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

1 Corinthians 16:23The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. 24My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

2 Corinthians 13:14The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Galatians 6:18Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen

Ephesians 6:23Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen

Hebrews 13:25Grace be with you all. Amen.

1 Peter 5:14Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

1 John 5:21Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Revelation 22:21The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

There may be some people who don’t want to sound like a “Bible scholar (Which I have been called and it makes me proud to say the least)” or “Holy Roller” but does mans opinion really matter to you? Do not for once be ashamed of the gospel. (Here is some scriptures on “ashamed)

The Spirit knows….seek guidance from Him.
