Let’s go deeper..

For years I have always knew that if you want to know the truth, you must search it out for yourself. I do not always believe what I hear. So why would I do that in a biblical sense? I shouldn’t.

Starting today, I feel led to start in a book of the King James Bible and completely dissect the words into the original meanings. Because if you did not know, the bible was not written in English. In 1604, King James authorized that a new translation of the Bible into English be started. He was human just like us, and we as humans make mistakes.

So, starting today in Matthew 1:18, I will take it verse for verse and give the Greek/Hebrew & KJV; comparing their differences. The reason I am not starting in verse 1 is because it is a list of who begat who.

Matthew 1:18-251Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.24Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

It is amazing to see how words got added in so it makes sense to us. But through-out this study you will begin to see how words are mistranslated.

    1. I have a feeling it will only get better. It is true that the truth will set you free, but in all reality the truth can not set you free, It’s what you KNOW about the truth that WILL set you free!!

  1. I think it is great that you are digging deeper. We should know what we believe for ourselves. 😀 Not meaning to be critical, just wanting to clarify. I wasn’t sure which was the king james and which was the translation … I think it was the second. Just wondered … the second post the words ran together … was it supposed to be that way?

    1. Yeah, the second post was just where you could click the word or words and it gives you the greek word. You can see where they added like 3 words to some of them just for one greek word. For example “it might be fulfilled” is all underlined so that means only one greek word was originally there which is Original Word: πληρόω meaning to make full, to complete accomplish, fulfill and King James threw in “might” which is weird. If it means to make full or complete accomplish why would you put it “might?” Might – Verb: In reported speech, expressing possibility or permission. You see what I mean? Some words are there that makes us think other than what the true meaning is.

      1. Yes,I do see what you mean. I did the strongs studies a long time ago. It has been too long since I really dug out a meaning of a passage. LOVE doing that. I don’t understand the reason for might either. Maybe … just maybe it didn’t server the translators purposes or that of the King … or maybe they just didn’t get it or accept it. It always makes you wonder.

      2. It sure does. It’s kinda fun to find the mistakes. One blogger brought to my eye about the NASB or the ESV. From what little scriptures I was able to search out tonight, it seems like they are right on track with the greek and hebrew translation. I’ll have to dig a little deeper.
